Doughnuts!

November 22, 2015

So I follow Gluten Free on a Shoestring on Facebook and a couple of weeks ago I saw they had a recipe for gf yeast doughnuts. So I saved the post for a time in the near future when I could be bothered to clean out the fat fryer... It was gross! (Note to self: clean out the fat fryer when it needs doing instead of leaving it for weeks!).

I have attempted doughnuts before but they didn't work as well as these. They were more smooth and hard to bite into whereas these are crunchy but still baby soft on the inside. I did have to tweak the original recipe here as my dough came out really sticky and would have been impossible to shape into even balls! But this was overcome with a bit more flour than recommended and they actually came out quite tasty! Miles was very impressed!

I don't have a doughnut cutter and all my other cutters are awkward shapes so I wasn't too adventurous when I chose just to do doughnut balls. However it did make things easier when frying because I was able to do more at a time.

They are perfect for a brunch on Sunday or for that matter, any day of the week!

You can cover them in sugar, icing (as suggested in the link) or anything you fancy!
